Building Engineer - Jim Carter
Jim Carter is a life-long bay area resident, born and raised in the beautiful city of Martinez.
Jim graduated from Alhambra High in 1966 and immediately began work managing automotive repair shops. In early 1982 Jim made a move into the field of engineering and building maintenance when he began work at the Leamington Plaza Building in Oakland.
In 1988 Jim moved to the Monadnock Building just after its complete seismic retrofit. Since then, Jim has become a fixture at this building, and is known and loved by the tenants, management, and the professionals he works with to keep the building in top repair. 2011 marks his 23rd consecutive year with the building.
Mr. Carter continues to challenge himself with learning and growth opportunities, taking classes and obtaining valuable training. He maintains a Fire Safety Director Certification through the Fire Fighter’s Union Local 39.
In his spare time Jim enjoys collecting antique pottery and hopes to make it his business after his retirement from engineering.
